General Information for 2008 Event

Weekend activities will begin Friday, July 4th in the morning.
We suggest you arrive Thursday,.July 3rd. Events will end
Sunday, July 6th during the afternoon.

Tents and trailers welcome ,but note that we do not have water hookup directly to
trailers.ater will be available at all times at the house and drinking water outside
as well. Portable washrooms and showers will be situated on the property.

*Note: We ask kindly that everyone be respectful of others in dress and conduct.

Location

This event will be taking place at our 10 acre hobby farm in the country.

Directions from Ottawa: North/west on Hwy #17 Trans Canada.
Turn right on Foresters Falls Road #7 (Just before Cobden).
Turn left on Beachburg Road #21. Turn right on Lapasse Rd. #49.
Turn left on Lookout Rd. #31.

Workshops

Basic Course in Small Engine Maintenance

  • Our responsibility to keep what God has given us in good order.
  • Basic components of a small engine and equipment.
  • Overview on how a small gasoline engine runs.
  • Tuning up a lawnmower-covers cleaning the unit, Chain sharpening, and proper usage of the saw.
  • Tuning up a weed trimmer - covers proper use, changing the line, mixing the gas etc.

Basic Course in Small Engine Repair

  • Overview of how a small engine runs.
  • Tear down of an engine.
  • Identifying engine components.
  • Engine rebuild.
  • Starting and running of the rebuilt engine.
  • How to start a small engine repair shop.

Carpentry

  • Basic skills will be learned as a playhouse will be built.
  • Following plans to finishing touches.  

Please bring a hammer if you have one.

Chicken Butchering

  • This is a homesteading skill that few know.
  • The process from killing to packaging will be demonstrated and anyone who wishes to help is welcome.

Sewing and quilting bee

  • Learn how to hand quilt.
  • Bring any hand sewing or a project you need help with or just want to work on.
  • Ask any questions you have about hand or machine sewing or just come and watch and chat.

Talk on the family farm  

*tentative - Going organic, Market Gardening, Chickens, Cheesemaking

Activities

Recreational activities: volleyball, croquet, fooseball, etc; games and crafts for children if they wish

Evening campfires with gospel message, testimonies and hymn sing

Meals

Breakfast - with own family

Lunches - finger food potluck - sandwiches, raw veggies, fruit, cheese, muffins etc.

Supper Friday night - Casserole will be provided.
You need to bring one type of bread (rolls, buns,small loaf,etc.) or one salad, and one dessert.

Supper Saturday night - Barbecued hot dogs and hamburgers will be provided.
You need to bring one salad or chips and one dessert.
